New Year, New You…Once and For All

We are well underway in 2020. Now is the time to lock in those goals and get after them for the next 11 months. If you’re new here, I’m Lacey Stone, fitness expert, wellness coach, and celebrity trainer from E!’s Revenge Body. I’ve been working in the fitness industry for over a decade and know that January is the month for growth and setting the tone for your year’s mindset.

Here’s what happens. We make all these resolutions in the beginning of the year… but we start to get discouraged when we don’t see enough progress in the first couple of weeks. This is why it’s so important to put a plan in place for how you’re going to tackle your dream goals over the course of a new year. Working toward your personal, professional, and physical goals every day will curb any self-doubt you may have. I believe fitness starts in the mind, not the gym, so putting a pen to paper is the key to lasting change and creating new beginnings for yourself.

So ask yourself…

Personally, what do you want out of this year? Make a list of 5–10 things you want to achieve. Be creative with it! Don’t think just about having it all… think about who you want to be every day on your journey to your goals as well.

Professionally, what do you want out of this year? This one is fun. Dream big! Write down goals that you have no idea how you’re going to achieve but you know you want to achieve. No one who ever achieved anything big knew how they were going to get there—they just chipped away at their goals every day and sooner or later they got themselves there. Dreams are believing in things you cannot see and having faith that your hard work will get you there.

Physically, what do you want out of this year? This one is all about the work. Fitness is the fairest game in town. The more you give, the more you get. I highly recommend you set goals that are long term and short term. If you want to lose 20 pounds don’t make that a goal you have to achieve in 3 months. Give yourself some time to do it in a lasting, sustainable way so you never put yourself in a place pf hopelessness. You gotta dream, but you also need to be realistic and loving to yourself.

I asked myself those three questions, and I came up with these goals for 2020:

Personal goals

  • Practice being brave and authentic in all my interactions and choices.
  • Allow myself to fall madly in love. I’ve had some heartache in the past, so it’s important in this new year for me to let my heart sing again to transform my pain to power.
  • Be a good person, friend, daughter, mom, lover, and sister always… even when they annoy me. Ha.

Professional goals

  • Have 3 amazing live events across the country through Lacey Stone Fitness. That includes workouts, motivational speakers, and (of course) a party to finish.
  • Lock in my docuseries. (I can’t wait to tell you about it!)
  • Have a 3-day retreat in Utah with live fitness, mindset, and nutrition coaching.

Physical goals

  • Eat healthy… and always have a Birthday Cake ONE Bar (HOLY NOMS!!) with me so I don’t come home and eat everything out of the cupboards. Having a bar with 20 grams of protein and 1 gram of sugar with me at all times is a must. HOT TIP: For the next 3 weeks, you can get the new ONE Plant Bars for 20% off on Amazon! Click the “apply this coupon button” and you’re all set. The Chocolate Peanut Butter ONE Plant bar is my go-to, and the Banana Nut Bread ONE Plant bar is sooooo good with a cup of hot coffee.
  • Get at least 7 hours of sleep every night. Sleep is the most underrated form of recovery.
  • Meditate at least once a day.

I only listed three of my goals in each section, but if you came over to my home you’d see I have about 10–20 in each section. This is how I get through my year, and I think it will help you too. If you’re working toward your awesome every day, you will feel awesome and become the best you possible.
